Miami Makes solves physical problems through engineering, fabrication, and production coordination. The engagement can end with a production-ready design, continue through work in our shop, move through a specialist facility with Miami Makes coordinating the technical work, or transition directly to another manufacturer.

Engineering + design

Useful when: When the physical need is understood but the part, geometry, material, or production path still needs definition. This can be the complete engagement.

Can include: Reverse engineering, CAD modeling, drawings, design refinement, process conversion, design-for-production decisions, and acceptance criteria.

Direct production handoff

Useful when: When an outside facility can make the part but expects production-ready definition rather than an open-ended engineering problem.

Can include: Supplier-ready files and drawings, process and material requirements, quotation support, and technical transition to a manufacturer the customer will manage directly.

Additive manufacturing

Useful when: For complex geometry, rapid functional learning, customized parts, and quantities where tooling would be premature.

Can include: Functional prototypes, fixtures, end-use parts, fit checks, and small repeatable batches.

CNC routing + fabrication

Useful when: For sheet and block materials that benefit from precise cutting, pockets, profiles, drilling, and repeatable geometry.

Can include: Wood, plastics, foam, panels, templates, inserts, signage, and assembled components.

Laser cutting + engraving

Useful when: For detailed profiles, marking, layered assemblies, identifiers, displays, and material-efficient sheet work.

Can include: Acrylic, wood products, suitable plastics, coated materials, and evaluation-dependent substrates.

Assembly + finishing

Useful when: When the deliverable is a finished physical solution rather than a loose fabricated part.

Can include: Fit-up, hardware integration, bonding, sanding, coating, labeling, and packaging as scoped.

Short-run production

Useful when: When a stable-enough design needs initial inventory, a pilot run, or recurring specialized quantities.

Can include: Production planning, repeatable fabrication, basic inspection, assembly, and transition guidance.

Material direction

Choose for the environment, not the sample shelf.

Material availability evolves. These families are starting points; suitability is evaluated against heat, moisture, UV, loads, wear, appearance, and end-use responsibility.
